Used Car Ratings & Reviews

Used Car Ratings...

As we mentioned in our Buying Used Cars section, pre-owned vehicles are becoming more and more popular. Used car ratings prove that they are a wise, cost-effective alternative to buying new. But how do you pick the right one? Domestic or foreign? Truck or SUV? Ford or Chevy?

The best way to figure it out is to read what the experts had to say about the cars you're considering. Two great offline resources are the Consumer Guide Buying Guides and Consumer Reports monthly magazines and publications. Edmunds also puts out an informative guide with prices and ratings. All three have internet presence as well.

Another very interesting resource we've discovered is Car Detective. They offer a special Auto Research Report which is packed with hard to find information. They have car ratings and reviews going back to 1990, with trouble spots, actual consumer complaints and owner information.

You should also visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for information on the latest recalls, service bulletins, crash test results and more.

Between all of these resources, you can really figure out exactly what you want, at which point you can find a used car right in your neighborhood.

To get a quick estimate of how much a used vehicle will cost, we suggest you try our pricing estimator.

You can read some owner reviews as well, or visit our Buying Used Cars section.
