Illinois Lemon Law

Many of our visitors have written us regarding Illinois Lemon Law and what they can do if they have a problem vehicle.

We have researched the subject over the past few months and have gathered the following information:

What is Illinois Lemon Law?

Many new and used cars have serious persistent mechanical problems. This is usually due to a problem with the manufacturing process, and usually the manufacturer will buy the car back, which is why it is often referred to as a manufacturer buyback.

Illinois lemon law will protect you from getting stuck with one of these vehicles. The statutes differ from state to state however.

Some tips to follow:

1. If you think you might have a problem vehicle, don't hesitate to contact a lawyer to see what your rights are.

2. Maintain accurate records of all matters concerning the vehicle, especially maintenance records (where, when, what was done, etc.)

3. Find out if there are any current recalls and/or technical service bulletins (TSBs) for your car.

The law is on your side, so don't be afraid to pursue your case. Also, the sooner you act, the more likely you are to receive retribution or a new vehicle.
