2004 BMW X5

The 2004 BMW X5 is redesigned for the new model year. BMW's American-built SUV has new styling, transmissions and V8 engine.

Two model are available: a 225 horsepower, 6-cylinder engine 3.0i and a 315 horsepower 8-cylinder 4.4i. The 2004 BMW X5 V8 model now has 25 more horsepower than last year's X5. The 4.6is is no longer available.

Other new features for 2004:

1. The 3.0i now has a 6-speed instead of a 5-speed manual transmission. The 4.4i comes only as an automatic and replaces its 5-speed with a 6-speed as well.

2. A new AWD system replaces the older version, varying power to maximize traction.

3. The front end is redesigned, with the hood, air inlets and dual headlights exhibiting more detail and contour.
